Driven From Volgograd to Moscow After a Severe Injury, a Tiny Puppy Named Linda Refused to Stop Fighting for Her Life

In the city of Volgograd, a fragile young puppy named Linda was found suffering from devastating facial trauma that had left both her upper and lower jaws shattered. Rushed first to a local shelter and then to the Averia Clinic, she was in critical condition and struggling just to draw a steady breath.

Because the damage to her tiny frame was so extensive, initial evaluations suggested that euthanasia might be the only option left for her. Yet even in unbearable pain and exhaustion, the little dog showed a quiet determination to hold on.

Refusing to let her story end there, her rescuer made the urgent decision to drive Linda all the way from Volgograd to specialists in Moscow, staying close beside her through every mile while waiting to see if her weakened body could survive the journey.

Sleepless Nights in the Moscow Intensive Care Unit

Once Linda arrived in Moscow, surgeons wasted no time taking her into the operating room for her first procedure. The surgery was grueling, and she lost so much blood that the medical team had to use their entire available donor supply just to pull her through the first day.

A follow-up CT scan and a second operation soon revealed just how complex her recovery would be.

With her nose swollen from the initial trauma, Linda had to breathe through specialized tubes while remaining on strong medication to support her dangerously low blood pressure. Days later, following a third surgery inside the intensive care unit at the Moscow Biokontrol Clinic, doctors discovered that her fragile tissue was struggling to hold the stitches together.

When her protein levels dropped to a critical point and caused swelling, the medical team urgently requested albumin to stabilize her system.

Through all the uncertainty in the ICU, the tiny puppy refused to give in. Once the albumin took effect, her blood work slowly began to improve and her weight climbed to 7.9 kilograms.

Lying in her hospital bed, Linda began to wag her tail whenever her caregivers approached, leaning into gentle touches and showing a renewed interest in food even while her face was still mending.

“Survival in the hardest moments often comes down to a quiet partnership between skilled hands that refuse to quit and a small heart that still wants to live.”

A Pink Leash and a Trip to the Clinic Pet Store

As the days passed and the threat of severe infection began to recede, the doctors were able to remove one of the deep breathing tubes from her nose. For the first time since arriving in Moscow, Linda was strong enough to step outside into the fresh air for a short walk.

Speaking with her rescuer about the puppy’s progress, Doctor Valentinovich Garanin offered a reassuring update on her recovery.

“Everything is healing quite well, and she feels quite well, as much as possible in her condition.”

Although the sutures on her lower jaw still required close monitoring, her upper jaw was mending steadily, and her playful puppy spirit was beginning to return in full force. When allowed out of her recovery space, she trotted curiously through the clinic offices, charming the medical staff and even acting a little mischievous.

Outside on the grass, she wagged her tail at passing sights and batted playfully at fallen leaves.

To celebrate her growing strength, her rescuer stopped by the veterinary pharmacy to buy her a soft harness, a pink leash, and a squeaky toy of her own. Not long after, a smiling doctor greeted her rescuer with news that her blood tests had returned to normal.

“Linda has excellent tests, you could send her into space!”

On days when rain kept them from walking outdoors, her rescuer found other ways to keep the young dog’s spirits high during her long hospital stay. During one visit to the clinic’s pet store, Linda walked up and picked out a new toy all by herself, followed on another afternoon by a soft ball to keep her company inside her kennel.

While her weight still fluctuated from week to week, the doctors explained that it was a natural part of her journey—her tiny body was working overtime to heal from severe trauma while simultaneously trying to grow out of puppyhood.

One Final Hurdle Before Stepping Outside for Good

Just as it seemed her hospital stay might be nearing its end, Linda faced an unexpected complication when the remaining breathing tubes were finally removed from her nose. As the tissue healed, her tiny nostrils began sticking together, making it difficult for her to breathe freely on her own.

To keep her airway open, the surgeons asked her rescuer to help track down tiny hollow tunnels—similar to those used for ear piercings—that could be temporarily placed inside her nose while the tissue settled.

Even as she was wheeled in and out of the operating room for the delicate nasal procedure and follow-up repairs, Linda never developed a fear of the people in scrubs. Before each surgery, she looked up at the staff with calm, gentle eyes; afterward, as soon as the pain medication settled in, her tail would begin wagging again whenever visitors like her friend Alina stopped by to cuddle her.

At last, after months of constant monitoring and reconstructive care, the day came for “Linduska” to walk out of the Moscow clinic for good.

Stepping outside into the open air without hospital walls around her, she paused to sniff the breeze and look around at the world, her tail wagging without pause.

Today, the long nights in intensive care are completely behind her. Fully healed and healthy, Linda was adopted by a loving family where she lives in a warm home alongside several canine companions, spending her days running, cuddling, and sharing toys with her new friends.

“A difficult beginning may leave its mark on a young life, but it cannot dim the joy of an animal who has been loved back to wholeness.”
